METHOD OF CONTROL OF FUNCTIONAL STATE OF CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM IN SLEEP-AWAKEN CYCLE AND DEVICE FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2089240 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in numbering of the electroencephalogram, determination of the functional state of the central nervous system with the aid of spectral and amplitude analyses of the numbered sections, and, in a certain moment, actuation of the central nervous system by pulses of electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic field pulses are synchronized with the threshold instantaneous value of the electroencephalogram signal selected in the range from the mean to the maximum possible one for the given functional state. The method allows to use low-intensive electromagnetic field pulses for examination of the central nervous system (control of processes causing synchronization - desynchronization of the electroencephalogram), for normalization of sleep, not only lulling to sleep and awakening, but also for control of time relations between the slow-wave and superficial sleep stages, for facilitation of hypnotic procedures, for fight against an epileptic focus. The device uses an inductor and electrodes for removal of biopotentials. The electrodes are connected to a biopotential amplifier, whose output is connected to an analog-to-digital converter, whose output is connected to a microcomputer and comparator; the microcomputer output is connected to the comparator controlled by it, the comparator output is connected to the pulse generator control unit, and the pulse generator output is connected to the inductor. EFFECT: enhanced time correlation of the electromagnetic field pulses with the brain bioelectric activity making it possible to control the change of the functional state of the central nervous system. 2 cl, 2 dwg
