FIELD: catalysts preparation. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of heterogeneous catalyst for liquid-phase oxidation of sulfur compounds (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans) and may be utilized when cleaning gas releases and waste waters from power engineering, petroleum processing, chemical, and pulp-and-paper industries. In order to increase activity of catalyst, its mechanical strength, and heat resistance, heterogeneous catalyst is provided distinguishing with that, as active components, sulfur waste and pyrolusite ore are utilized, pyrolusite ore being composed of following oxides (in wt % of oxide): manganese(IV), 54.76-69.1; manganese(II), 1.80-4.85; iron(III), 5.00-11.23; silicon, 4.05-7.52; aluminium, 0.92-5.03; titanium, 0.01-0.03; calcium, 0.50-0.82; magnesium, 0.40-0.70; potassium, 2.87-3.10; sodium, 0.37-0.58; phosphorus(V), 1.10-1.35; impurities and calcination loss, the balance. Carrier is composed of (in wt %): sulfur waste, 13-15; pyrolusite ore, 43-45; fusible matter, 10-12; clay, the balance. As fusible matter, catalyst may contain glass.
