FIELD: catalysts preparation. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of heterogeneous catalyst for liquid-phase oxidation of sulfur compounds (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans) and may be utilized when cleaning gas releases and waste waters from power engineering, petroleum processing, chemical, and pulp-and-paper industries. Catalyst contains active component and high-pressure polyethylene as carrier. Distinguishing feature of catalyst is that, as active component, antimony(III) oxide and sulfur waste are utilized, total make-up of catalyst being as follows: 33-37 wt % sulfur waste, 4-6 wt % antimony(III) oxide, and polyethylene, the balance.
