WAVE-PROPELLED CRAFT Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; storm-resistant sea-going craft with surface hull. SUBSTANCE: wave-propelled craft includes weatherworks which is connected with cigar-shaped submersible floats by means of vertical semi-submersible struts; floats are provided with propellers which are connected by means of hermetic horizontal connectors. Wave-propelled craft is provided with at least side float located on either side; each side float is articulated with respective carriage by means of swivel cantilever; each carriage is mounted in upper portion of its vertical semi-submersible strut. Each carriage is provided with two brackets projecting from inner side beyond its boundaries; brackets are articulated with plates of inner ends of cantilevers; two vertical rods of left-hand and right-hand gear racks are articulated in each cantilever at distance not extending beyond boundaries of ship's hull bottom; rods are located at distance relative to each other equal to width of cantilever. Each gear rack is engaged with cylindrical gear of half-axle on whose inner end drive holder of overrunning clutches have similar sense of rotation and are fitted on ends of shaft provided with bevel gear in its center portion which is thrown into engagement with bevel gear of power takeoff shaft connected with input shaft of step-up gear whose output is connected with electric generator through inertia overrunning clutch.
