FIELD: measurement of speed, for example, of flight vehicles and natural objects at astronomical observation. SUBSTANCE: the device uses a telescope system with a variable angular magnification, photodetector located in the system optical axis and made up of two photodiodes aligned with each other (p-n junctions). The first one is made in the form of a circle, and the other - in the form of a ring in which the first one is placed. At a run-on of the object in the system axis towards the observer (device) its image runs, at its angular magnification, concentrically over the surface of the photodetector at linear velocity V that is connected with linear velocity of object movement in the system axis towards the observer. The first photodiode carries out the function of a beacon at adjustment, and the frequency band of the electrical signal proportional to V is detected and velocity is determined with the aid of the second photodiode and frequency meter at the known angular magnification of the telescope system and geometric parameters of the ring photodiode.
