SPATIAL FIRE EXTINGUISHING APPARATUS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: fire prevention. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has combustion chamber adapted for burning of thermochemical composition and provided with detachable cover, reaction chamber, mixing chamber with annular nozzle-type collector, overheating chamber with removable nozzle. Collector is connected with fire extinguishing liquid container through pressure pipeline. Container has gas generator for displacement of fire extinguishing liquid. Pressure pipeline is provided with branch pipe, where thermochemical composition ignition device actuated by pressure of fire extinguishing liquid is positioned. Water or aqueous solution of sodium, potassium or ammonium salt or mixture of these salts is used as fire extinguishing liquid. Fire extinguishing liquid in combination with thermochemical composition is used as reactant for overheating this liquid and generating vapor-aerosol mixture. Thermochemical composition used in the process is mixture of aluminum and/or magnesium or their alloy with nitric acid sodium or potassium. Weight ratio of thermochemical composition and sprayed fire extinguishing liquid is 1:2 to 1:15.
