SUBSTANCE: harmful components are oxidized on surface electrode-electrolyte with clear oxygen delivered into reaction zone and conveyed by electric current from air through layer of solid electrolyte featuring mainly oxygen ionic conduction. Oxidation is provided by active oxygen at moment of its liberation. Inert components of air do not get into gas stream, and amount of metered out oxygen does not depend on engine operating condition (load, speed, etc) thanks to it sufficient amount of oxygen at any operating conditions is provided. process is easy to control. Method has been tested on model mixtures at stoichiometric delivery of oxygen through layer of ceramics of the following composition, %: ZrO2, 90%; CaO, 9%;; Y2O3, 1%. Efficiency of cleaning exhaust gases from CO and hydrocarbons reaches 95-98%. EFFECT: enhanced cleaning of exhaust gases. 1 tbl, 1 dwg
