FIELD: explosive safety. SUBSTANCE: explosive is removed from ammunition casing by melting off explosive with inert, insoluble in explosive melt heat carrier under pressure through a head with 3-5-mm openings followed by separating explosive and heat carrier on 0.1-3 mm cell- size filter , density of heat carrier being 1.5-2.0 times lower than that of explosive being removed. Head is alternately made to reciprocate and to perform back-and-rotate motion. Filtration terminated, mixture is placed into separator where stream is first laminated and then by gravity separated, heat carrier being returned into process cycle. Installation contains a stack with receiving cone, hollow bar with head and its drive, liquid heat carrier-supply means, separator, explosive melt collector, and drainage pipeline with filter. Separator is provided with stream damper and is connected with explosive melt collector through hydraulic gate and with heat carrier-supply means. Filter is installed on drainage pipeline before separator. EFFECT: method and apparatus are suitable for removing explosives from large-size ammunition with complicated internal structure. 5 cl, 1 dwg
