FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to optical methods of determination of octane number of gasoline with use of IR radiation. IR radiation analyzed sample of gasoline and check dish. Intensity of passed radiation is recorded across outlets of both dishes. Intensity of radiation passed through check disk us used to stabilize intensity of source of IR radiation. Octane number is calculated by difference of signals generated across outlets of dish with gasoline and check dish. In this case correlation dependences obtained for standard samples with known octane numbers are used. For determination of octane number there is used device incorporating IR radiation source, optical filter, photodetector with preamplifier connected through analog-to-digital converter to calculator with indicator across output, two dishes with radiating and receiving probes. Device includes optical switch to change radiation from source over to working dish with gasoline or to check dish. It also has synchrogenerator, storage and control unit. One output of synchrogenerator is connected to calculator, its other output is linked to optical switch. Storage is connected to input of calculator and output of the latter is connected through control unit to source of IR radiation. EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement of octane number of gasoline, accounting for zero drift in system, provision for fire and explosion safety during measurements. 2 cl, 1 dwg
