FIELD: servicing traction storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: storage battery is charged in two steps at limited electrolyte temperature. First-step charging current is chosen according to electrolyte temperature. Parameters of mathematical model describing battery temperature as function of time and charging current are determined from heating curve. Second-step charging current is chosen so as to ensure that battery is brought to desired capacity within minimum possible time and that current and electrolyte temperature do not go beyond specified values in the course of charging. Electrolyte temperature is predicted using mathematical model obtained during first charging step. Charging is ceased as soon as specified capacity is obtained. EFFECT: facilitated procedure; improved charging conditions. 1 dwg
