FIELD: soap boiling, leather industry. SUBSTANCE: tribochemical production of fatting mixtures of soaps of metals from I-VIII group of Periodic Table and carboxylic acids C₇ and higher involves interaction of metal-containing reagents with acid or with mixture thereof. The process is carried out at 20-60 C within 10-40 min in bead mill in the presence of tribochemical catalyst (its quantity is 0.05-0.4 %), oil component and solvent; molar ratio of metal-containing reagent and acid being from 1:m to 1:(mn) where m is number of metal atoms in origin metal-containing reagent and n is valent content of metal in said reagent. Initially solution of acid and tribochemical catalyst is prepared in liquid phase of system which comprises solvent, oil component, liquid components of acid-containing compositions and water. In solution metal-containing reagent (e.g. oxide, hydroxide, carbonate of metal) is added when predetermined temperature is brought about. Nitrogen-containing compounds are used as tribochemical catalyst; nitrates of ammonium or alkaline metals, secondary and tertiary amines and amides of acids are preferable. Fish fat and sunflower oil, ester and unsaponified components of tallow and acid oils, resin components of waste of synthetic fatty acids and industrial oil are used as mentioned above oil component.
