FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: this relates to compositions of steel-making charge for use in electric furnaces. Composite charge contains iron-carbon alloy and oxidic material at following ratio of components, mas. %: iron-carbon alloy, 50.0-99.5; oxidic material, 0.5-50.0. Content of iron monoxide and iron oxide in oxidic material is taken respectively in proportion of (0.01-6.0):1.0. This composite charge reduces consumption of electric energy at initial period of melting in decomposition of iron oxides and promotes earlier start of carbon oxidizing.
