FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing charge mix for use in steelmaking and cast-iron production. Filler contains, wt %: carbon-containing material 5-50, binding agent (liquid glass) 3-15, binding agent hardening rate control additive (fluxing agent) 0.5-3.0, and oxide iron-containing material (iron ore concentrate or scales) - the balance. Utilized carbon-containing material is coke fines, filtration dust from coke dry quenching installations, and/or dag. As carbon- and oxide iron-containing material, iron concentrate fraction 0-10 mm can be used, which is obtained by processing and concentrating metallurgical reject containing 50.0-86.0% iron, 2.0-4.7% carbon, 0.5-7.2% graphite, and a series of other components. Prior to be loaded into troughs of filling machine and be flooded with liquid cast iron (advantageously in two portions), filler components are mixed, briquetted into briquette fraction at least 30 mm.
