FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: surface of roll is heated to drawing temperature by way of being in contact with metal in rolling state, after which roll surface is cooled: first slowly and then in accelerated mode, slow cooling time constituting 0.4-0.9 tempering time and cooling liquid flow in the beginning of accelerated cooling step being not higher than 0.5 its nominal flow and smoothly rising to nominal value by the beginning of roll operation. EFFECT: increased stability of rolls.
