FIELD: metallurgy, possibly in mills for cold and hot rolling for increasing useful life period of rolling rolls. SUBSTANCE: roll operates in stand for 2-25 charges. Then roll barrel is subjected to magnetic treatment realized 1-30 times for the whole operation period of roll. Roll is allowed to operate no earlier than in 4 hours after completing magnetic treatment that may be carried out in static or in pulsating magnetic field.
