FIELD: metallurgy; applicable in hot- and cold-rolling mills for prolongation of roll service life. SUBSTANCE: working roll made from steel 9X2MB of mill 2030 is installed on machine tool to whose carriage, inductor setting up magnetic filed is secured. Roll is rotated at a speed of 30 rpm and subjected to pulse magnetic field beginning from edge of roll barrel. Intensity of magnetic field is 1000 A/m with five magnetic pulses per second and pulse duration of 5•10-3 s. Carriage with inductor is moved along roll barrel at speed of 500 mm/min. EFFECT: increased stability rolls after reconditioning. 4 cl, 2 ex
