FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes crushing, mixing, and caking blend followed by smelting thus obtained agglomerate. Caking is carried out using reject or return converter slag from nickel production with particle size 30 mm containing 0.11-2% nickel and 0.06-0.35% cobalt and having ferrous oxide to silica ratio 1.8-2.4. Amount of slag utilized provides the same ratio in agglomerate to be 0.5-0.8. EFFECT: improved parameters of process. 1 tbl
