FIELD: alcohol industry. SUBSTANCE: process includes epuration of water-alcohol mixture in epuration column in presence of oxidant-type regent and further rectification to yield commercial alcohol. Process is distinguished with feeding air into epuration column in amount 0.05-30.0 cu.dm per 1 cu. dm of alcohol, whereas oxidant-type regent amount is found from formula: mox where is amount of oxidant-type reagent, g; mox theoretical amount of air consumed on oxidation of carbonyl, sulfur-containing, and unsaturated compounds in 1 cu.dm of alcohol, respectively, cu.dm; K empirical coefficient; Vcar,Vs,Vun actual amount of air fed in column, cu.dm per 1 cu.dm of alcohol; Vact air density, g/cu. dm; ρair oxygen concentration in air, wt %; and C(O2) molecular weight of oxidant-type reagent corresponding to 1 g-at of oxygen released.
