FIELD: purification of liquids. SUBSTANCE: invention places special emphasis on purification of water- alcohol mixtures from different impurities deteriorating quality of final product. Method consists in feeding original mixture into rectification column and boiling bottom liquid to perform rectification process carried out in presence of chemically active substances. The latter employ a reagent with oxidative and/or basic nature which is added to original mixture prior to be fed into rectification column after 30-min holding at temperature by at least 5 C below boiling temperature of mixture. Mixture is boiled in column still for at least 45 min. As oxidative reagent, for example, hydrogen peroxide, potassium permanganate, perborates, and persulfates are used in quantities 0,01 to 50 g per 1 cu.dm of organic liquid or air (supplemented with oxygen or ozone) in quantity 0.5 to 1000 cu.dm per 1 cu.dm of organic liquid. As basic reagent, potassium or sodium hydroxide, carbonate, and bicarbonate, or ammonia are used in quantities 0.01 to 50 g per 1 cu.dm of organic liquid. During rectification process, column is supplied with reagent having oxidative and/or basic nature in quantity 0.01 to 50 g per 1 cu.dm of organic liquid. EFFECT: increased removing sulfur-containing, carbonyl, and unsaturated compounds. 7 cl
