FIELD: chemical technology; may be used in production of hydroxylamine sulfate and other processes concerned with nitrogen oxides. SUBSTANCE: method of moisture separation from nitrous gas containing nitrogen oxides, steam, oxygen and inert gases is effected by stage cooling. Novelty is in that condensation of steam which is carried out by maintaining the difference between condensation temperature and that of coolant depending on expected content of nitric acid in condensate by the formula of the invention. Preferably, difference between condensation temperature and that of coolant is maintained at 7.5-15 C. Concentrate with content of nitric acid less than 0.3 mas.% may be utilized in production of hydroxylamine sulfate and nitric acid. EFFECT: reduced content of nitric acid in condensate after the first stage of cooling. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
