FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ways of feeding material into electrolyte melt and may be used in electrolyzers with self-roasting electrode utilizing Heroux-Hall process to increase productivity. Method includes feeding raw material into electrolyzer through inlet zones, each one being disposed over the region of thickest electrolyte layer that is located along side walls of electrolyzer anode and is confined by 1/6 electrolyzer length toward the both sides relative to electrolyzer axis. Such peculiarity results in increased productivity (by 5-8%) owing to increased reliability and efficiency in feeding bulk material into electrolyzer, increased material feed capacity of zones, and uniformity in feeding material into melt. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 2 dwg
