FIELD: transport engineering; traction systems of vehicles employing energy accumulated in flywheel. SUBSTANCE: flywheel energy accumulator, stepless transmission and some other chassis members of vehicle are combined into one unit. Design peculiarity of electric drive is the following: deep vacuum is built in sealed housing and hub of rim superflywheel and armatures of two disk unipolar electrical machines are rigidly secured on shaft stabilized by means of radially axial magnetic suspension. Common central liquid-and-metal contact of machines is made making and breaking, and separated peripheral contactless thermoemission current collectors have grid control. The following modes of operation are provided: charging from internal or external supply source; acceleration; stepless traction force control to suit conditions of movement at discharge mode; trickle-charging; regenerative braking with increase in energy accumulated by flywheel.
