FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: rivet is set in an opening drilled perpendicular in a stack of parts to be joined. The rivet is made up as a bushing that receives a rod mandrel. At one end of the mandrel is a head whose diameter exceeds the diameter of the inner side of the bushing. The other end projects out of the mandrel from the side opposite to the head. The bushing is then locked from two sides of the stack by means of the stop and locking head arranged at its ends. The locking head is shaped by deforming respective end of the bushing. After that the mandrel is exerted by an axial force to provide breaking-off of its rod. Before locking the bushing it is exerted by a force to allow longitudinal stretching in a portion interposed between the stop head and bearing means. The bearing means is preliminary mounted on the inner side of the bushing. The bushing is locked when it stretched. The bushing with the mandrel is introduced to the opening in the stack to be riveted before or after the stretching of the bushing. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 23 cl, 14 dwg
