FIELD: gas, oil, chemical, power engineering and coal industries. SUBSTANCE: wedge gate valve has body with inlet and outlet branch pipes with seats fitted in through holes, and movable shutoff member. Guide slots and projections are made on corresponding surfaces of shutoff member and body. One of contact surfaces of shutoff member is square to axis of through hole of body. Second contact surface of movable shutoff member is tilted relative to axis of through hole to provide hermetically sealing wedge effect. Distance from contact surface square to axis of through hole to wall of guide pointed to the surface is not smaller than distance from lower contact point of seat of tilted surface to opposite wall of guide.
