FIELD: measuring equipment; research work in petroleum chemical, oil refining and chemical industries. SUBSTANCE: extinction factors of calibration fuels are measured at several wave lengths in near infra-red band, and their average values for every wavelength are calculated. To formulate regression equation, use is made of difference between extinction factors of every fuel and their average values. After extinction factors of analyzed fuel are measured differences between them and average values of extinction factors of calibration fuels are determined at the same wave lengths.
