FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: elastomeric ethylene copolymer has ultimate tensile strength of 10-200 kg/sq cm, comprises 75-85 wt % mole % ethylene units and 19-25 mole %, butene-1 units (variant 1). Elastomeric ethylene copolymer having above-indicated ultimate tensile strength comprises 5-25 mole % butene units and 5-12 mole % propylene units (variant II). Copolymer is prepared by suspension liquid phase copolymerization in the presence of catalytic system comprising vanadium triacetyl acetonate and at least one organoaluminium compound at 0- 60 C.
