FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: described is method of polymerization of ethylene in combination with alpha-C3-C10 olefins in liquid monomer suspension in the presence of vanadium- containing catalyst prepared by deposition in atmosphere of ethylene or alpha-olefins: (a) vanadium compound at oxidation degree from 3 to 5 and (b) in substantially hydrocarbon solution of compound selected from group of formula: RnAlXm wherein R is C1-C20 alkyl; X is halogen, m+n=3, and n is integer of 0 to 2. Elastomers prepared by claimed method have improved morphology, and polymerization process is carried out in reactor which is substantially free from contaminations.
