FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: invention describes method of preparing ethylene-alpha- C3-C10 olefin copolymers by suspension polymerization of mixture of monomers in liquid state at alpha -C3-C10- olefin(s) to ethylene molar ratio from 7 to 15 in the presence of catalyst system comprising (I) organic vanadium compound free from chlorine, (II) organoaluminium compound and (III) chlorinated ester. Method comprises carrying out polymerization in the presence of catalyst system comprising, as (II) organoaluminium component, mixture of at least one alkylaluminium compound of general formula: R1,R2,R3-Al wherein R1,R2,R3 are identical or different alkyl radicals having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms with at least one chloroalkylaluminium compound at Cl/Al atoms ratio of ≤0,5 in mixture and at compound (III): (I) molar ratio of 1- 10, and the resulting copolymer has chlorine content of less than 300 ppm. EFFECT: improved properties of the desired product and increased purity of the desired product. 6 cl, 13 ex, 2 tbl
