SUBSTANCE: invention provides liquid- phase process for production of elastomeric copolymers carried out in presence of catalyst basically consisting of vanadium, cocatalyst basically consisting of trimethylaluminum, and optionally activator. Vanadium compound, as it is or prepolymerized, is selected from (i) compounds having general formula T.VO(L)n(X)m, in which n is integer from 1 to 3, m is integer from 0 to 2, and (n+m) = 2 or 3; (ii) compounds having general formula V(L)p(X)q, in which p is integer from 1 to 4, q is integer from 0 to 3, and (p+q) = 2 or 4; L denotes bidentate ligand obtained from 1,3-diketone and X halogen atom, preferably chlorine.
