FIELD: power plants and industrial boiler houses for explosion-proof operation of coal pulverization system in drying fuel with hot air in course of grinding. SUBSTANCE: yield of volatile matter in moisture-freemass of fuel is determined in drying the fuel with hot air in course of grinding at limited temperature of dust-and-air mixture at outlet of coal-pulverizing plant by its limiting explosion-proof magnitude. Lower concentration limit of spread of flame of volatile matter at availability of nonvolatile residue and working moisture content of starting fuel are calculated to the data obtained; minimum explosion-proof magnitude of moisture content of coal dust is found from the following formula: where Kf is explosibility criterion of fuel showing degree of chemical activity of its volatile matter; Wr is working moisture content of starting fuel; Vd yield of volatile matter in moisture-free fuel and μ
