FIELD: heat-power engineering and environmental protection. SUBSTANCE: method consists in three-step burning of solid fuel in presence of calcium-containing sorbent. Minimum amount of oxygen is first fed providing, under pyrolysis and heating fuel to 500-600 C, binding of releasing vapors of sulfur and its compounds into sulfides and calcium sulfate. Then, as process of coke residue burning at temperature not higher than 850 C proceeds, binding of bulk sulfur into calcium sulfate is provided by controlling burning temperature via varying oxygen and steam supply at minimum carbon dioxide content. Third step consists in postburning of sulfur-free combustible gases in hearth or gas turbine. Practically complete binding of sulfur (99.99%) is provided when superfine sorbent with particle size not larger than 100-200 mcm is used. EFFECT: eliminated pollution of atmosphere with sulfur dioxide. 1 dwg
