FIELD: modulation of electromagnetic, including microwave, radiation. SUBSTANCE: modulator has polarizer and capacitor whose plates are set in parallel with direction of electromagnetic radiation propagation. Capacitor also has conducting strips placed in parallel to plates. Made on side of conducting strips facing one of capacitor plates are emission cathodes emitting electrons under effect of electrical component of modulated electromagnetic radiation. Material of emission cathodes has lower work function than material of conducting strips. EFFECT: improved design. 4 cl, 17 dwg
