FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: aluminum pyrotechnic powder is prepared by way of dry grinding of aluminum particles with stearin added on ball mill in flow inert gas atmosphere (nitrogen with controlled oxygen content). Method is distinguished by maintaining weight ratio of the hourly ball mill loading to ball charge within the range 0.06-0.10 and gas flow from 1400 to 1600 cu.m/h, particle size of starting powder being not larger than 200 mcm. EFFECT: increased productivity of grinding on ball mills. 1 tbl
