FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, electric furnaces for melting synthetic slag. SUBSTANCE: the offered electric furnace has metal body accommodating lining of flat bottom from carbon-containing blocks, water-cooled coolers from copper block located on a part of height of walls over perimeter of furnace working volume and made with internal channels, and lining with refractory bricks located above coolers, and lined cover with holes through which electrodes are passed. Coolers are installed with their end faces resting on flat surface of bottom. Coolers internal chambers are located horizontally. Height of coolers amounts to 0.3-0.5 height of furnace working volume. Horizontal channels are spaced over cooler height at 0.08-0.15 height of coolers. Diameter of horizontal channels amounts to 0.12-0.4 thickness of cooler, and distance from surface of each channel to working surface of cooler amounts to 0.3-0.4 of its thickness. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg , 1 tbl
