FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: for synthetic slag smelting charge is loaded to electric furnace periodically. Charge consists of slag-forming materials containing iron, chrome and titanium oxides. Charge is melted in electric furnace and melt is discharged periodically into ladle. In the process of synthetic slag smelting neutral gas, for example, nitrogen (consumption is 0.05-0.20 m3/min per 1 m3 electric furnace volume over metal melt surface) is fed into furnace volume. After in turn charge loading carbon-containing material is fed to the melt into furnace. Source of carbon-containing material: coke with carbon content determined by equation: m = (2-20)·(2Cr2O3+1,4FeO+3,8TiO2) where: m - carbon mass in feeding carbon-containing material, kg per ton of loaded slag-forming charge; Cr2O3, FeO and TiO2 - percent content of oxides in loaded charge, %; (2-20) - empirical coefficient, kg/t.%; 2; 1.4 and 3.8 - coefficients of reactions stoichiometry. After carbon-containing material feeding melt is blown through with neutral gas, for example, argon periodically (3-10 times for one minute), and blowing is stopped 20-40 minutes before in turn melt outlet from electric furnace.
