METAL WIRE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: steel wire production. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at manufacturing wire of cold worked steel coated with metal alloy having non-perlite structure and rupture and tensile strengths as high as those in wire of perlite cold-worked steel and also having least damage when worked. Basis steel of wire contains at least 0.05 but no more than 0.6% carbon. Structure of steel contains more than 90% of cold worked tempering martensite. Basis is coated with metal alloy differing from basis steel. Such wire is manufactured by way of cold working of steel rod containing 28 to 96% excess ferrite and 72 to 4% perlite. Rod is hardened to produce structure containing more than 90% martensite, after which metals are deposited and wire is heated to induce formation of alloy and structure containing more than 90% of tempering martensite. Wire is then cooled and subjected to cold working. Thus manufactured wire is applied e.g. when reinforcing tyres. EFFECT: improved performance characteristics. 15 cl, 4 dwg
