FIELD: tyre industry; reinforcement of tread by stainless steel wire. SUBSTANCE: steel used for manufacture of wire contains carbon from 0.02% to 0.2% by weight, nickel from 6% to 10% by weight, chromium from 16% to 20% by weight, with either no molybdenum at all or content of molybdenum not exceeding 5% by weight. Summary content of nickel, chromium and molybdenum is within 23% and 28.5% by weight. Proposed stainless steel includes at least 50% of martensite by volume and it has either no austenite or contains less than 50% of austenite by volume. Invention relates top pneumatic tyre casings reinforced by indicated stainless steel wire. EFFECT: increased strength of tyre casings. 15 cl, 7 tbl
