FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: antifriction cast iron appropriate to manufacturing parts of friction units contains (in wt %): carbon, 3.18-4.10; silicon, 1.96-3.12; manganese, 0.23-0.71; copper, 0.75-3.22; aluminum, 0.02-0.30; chromium, 0.05-0.15; magnesium, 0.01-0.005; calcium, 0.005-0.02; rare- earth metals, 0.01-0.07; titanium, 0.01-0.10; iron, the balance. EFFECT: stabilized hardness values in various-cross-section castings and reduced coefficient of friction when operating with coupled part of thermally treated steel under elevated specific loading conditions owing to increased stability of perlite structure; improved antifriction characteristics. 2 tbl
