FIELD: manufacture of materials used for reinforcement of drive belts, pipelines, tires. SUBSTANCE: method involves extruding optically anisotropic solution of aromatic polyamide with logarithmic viscosity of at least 4.5 dl/g and concentration of at least 20% by weight through spinneret at temperature not in excess of 105 C into settling bath. Spinneret capillar has diameter of 200-1,800 micron, capillar length-diameter ratio does not exceed 7 and inlet cone opening angle is 10-90 deg. Dynamic contact time of polymeric material flow in settling bath is determined by formula: t = KD2, where K=40-197 5 s/sq.mm. During passage of liquid flow through layer of noncoagulating liquid with 5-30 mm thickness, it is extended by 2.5-15.0 times. Monofilament has logarithmic viscosity related to logarithmic viscosity of polymeric material as V(f) equal to or exceeding V(p) - 0.8. Diameter is 45-396 micron, titre is 2.3-175 tex, initial module is 2,182-7,490 sn/tex and strength does not exceed 164 sn/tex.
