FIELD: manufacture of chemical filaments. SUBSTANCE: untreated formed monofilament of thermotropic aromatic polyester(amide) satisfies following ratios: D exceeds or is equal to 40; Te exceeds 45; ΔL is equal to or exceeds 0, where D is diameter, micron; Te is rupture strength, sN/tex and Δ L is variation of length, %, upon expiration of 2 min at temperature of 235 C plus and minus 5 C at preliminary tension of 0.2 sN/tex. Method for manufacture of monofilament involves structuring polymer flow at spinneret outlet by drawing in gaseous layer for predetermined time interval depending on diameter D; providing thermal quenching of structured polymer in liquid for hardening thereof. Monofilament produced by method does not shrink upon heating and may be used for strengthening of articles from plastic and rubber, as well as of pneumatic casings.
