FIELD: measurement technology, specifically, determination of level of technical and drinkable water in reservoirs of water supply systems. SUBSTANCE: for solution of presented problem it is proposed to synchronize moments of recording of parasitic pulses with moments of recording of information acoustic pulses and to neutralize by this negative action of first ones on measurement results. Probing of tested liquid medium by acoustic pulses is carried out along trajectory of three sections, first and third ones of which are oriented perpendicular to boundary of separation of media in reservoir and second one - in parallel to specified boundary. In this case length of second (base) section of trajectory is chosen equal to doubled or fourfold value of distance from given section to bottom of reservoir with radiation of acoustic pulses from point of crossing of first and second sections of probing trajectory and with their recording in point of crossing of second and third sections of trajectory. Circuit of device realizing proposed method makes it possible to check liquid media which level in reservoir changes slowly enough or relatively fast. In first case measurement accuracy is higher since there appears possibility of formation of continuous series of time intervals proportional to value of tested level in duration. For increase of measurement accuracy in second case it is proposed to raise repetition rate of count pulses and of capacity of counter accordingly.
