FIELD: instruments. SUBSTANCE: method involves amplification of analog signal using adaptive alternation of gain, and conversion of signal as float point code. When exponent code is generated, average absolute value of input signal is calculated and compared to sequence of threshold levels. Amplification gain for input signal is set up using this comparison. This value is calculated as inverse function of absolute value of signal. EFFECT: increased speed, increased dynamic range. 3 dwg
