POTATO SHELLING HAND KNIFE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: device for cleaning potato and other vegetables in home and field conditions. SUBSTANCE: knife has handle, base, rocking cleaning member pivotally fixed in holders and blade for additional cleaning of potato tuber of 4-7 cm length and 1.5-2.5 cm width. Blade has straight lower edge extending along continuation of line of cleaning member axial line, upper edge converging with upper edge at an angle of 15-20 deg and smoothly joining with it along circumferential line. Rounded end and lower edge of blade are sharpened at an angle of 30-45 deg at one side. Groove of 1.5-2.5 mm width is cut in blade surface opposed to sharpened side along lower edge. Groove extends to rounded end and positioned tangentially to lower edge and rounded end. It is recommended that right angle between upper edge and sharpened blade surface be rounded. EFFECT: increased efficiency by removal of surface layer of tuber and high-quality additional cleaning of tuber and separation of all defective portions. 2 cl, 2 dwg
