FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to creating insulation coating on steel surface. Composition - precursor of insulation coating is supplemented by phosphoric acid in the form of extraction phosphoric acid to give following makeup, wt-%: phosphoric acid, 50-65; magnesium oxide, 3.5-7.5; aluminum hydroxide, 1.45-3.2; boric acid, 0.27-3.9; and water, the balance. EFFECT: improved physico- mechanical parameters of insulation, increased magnetic properties of steel, and increased lifetime of coated steel products under elevated humidity conditions. 1 tbl
