FIELD: ultrasonic inspection of thickness of layer of deposit inside water-supply pipes used to feed water without shut-down of process. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes insertion of ultrasonic vibrations along normal to surface of pipe, reception of ultrasonic vibrations passed through pipe filled with water in advance, measurement of intensity or amplitude of ultrasonic vibrations passed through pipe and its comparison with intensity of ultrasonic vibrations passed through same tube filled with same liquid but having no deposits. This comparison is used for evaluation of thickness of deposit in pipe and of inner flow section of pipe. Thickness of deposit is found by formula. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and reliability of method. 1 cl, 2 dwg
