FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: first, ultrasound transducer is placed perpendicular to outer smooth lubed surface of first controlled specimen with rough bottom surface, bottom roughness being equal to minimum roughness of measured range. Ultrasound signal is periodically fed into specimen on varying transducer angle of place on surface of first controlled specimen within first critical angle limits. Signals reflected from specimen bottom surface are received to use all assemblage of received reflected signals to determine maximum amplitude of first or second reflected signal for it to be memorised. Then, transducer is arranged perpendicular to outer lubed smooth surface of second controlled specimen with rough bottom surface, bottom roughness being equal to maximum roughness of measured range to determine similarly maximum amplitude of first or second reflected signal for it to be memorised. Now, measured amplitudes are used to define roughness of tube inner surface roughness.
EFFECT: high-quality and fast roughness determination.
