METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CLEANING PIPES FROM ASPHALT-RESIN-PARAFFIN DEPOSITIONS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: oil and gas production industry. SUBSTANCE: this can used for industrial cleaning of oil well pipes. According to method, asphalt-resin-paraffin depositions are melted by high-frequency electromagnetic radiation and after that molten materials are removed. High-frequency radiation is displaced along pipe by means of movable metal rod. This rod together with pipe being cleaned create coaxial wave guide of length varied from 0 to L, where L is length of pipe being cleaned. Energy of high-frequency radiation is concentrated on end of movable rod which is introduced into pipe in zone of pipe close to its wall. This is done by means of half-wave concentrator which is made in the form of two truncated cones with common base. Device for realization of method incorporates movable metal rod located coaxially inside working pipe. Also provided is quarter-wave filter-plug. Unit for introduction of high-frequency radiation is represented by inductive-capacitive link created by metal ring around dielectric bush installed in middle part of working pipe and pintle connected with output of high-frequency generator. Provided in working pipe is pipe union for branching of melt. Aforesaid method and device allow for application for technological purposes of permissible high-frequency electromagnetic field for cleaning pipes of any diameter, and they ensure cleanliness of pipe near its wall with simultaneous reduction of power needed in process of cleaning.
