FIELD: railway transport; track braking devices. SUBSTANCE: frames including brake beams and beam expanding springs are installed between rails. Beams are held in ready for operation condition by breakable braces in inoperative state. Knife is mounted on running gear. When emergency braking is required, knife is lowered to position in which it cuts safety braces. Brake beams, now released, are shifted by springs into operative position and come in contact with wheel tyres from inside of track, thus providing force required for stopping the train.
