FIELD: manufacture of base for discs of storage units. SUBSTANCE: method includes placing of optical glass block into chamber, heating up to its softening and building up pressure in chamber. Then molten material is forced through calibrated die in direction of force of gravity with simultaneous pulling at extrusion rate. The device has chamber with exterior heating elements. Chamber is communicated with source of compressed gas. Die has hollows for pumping through the cooling fluid. Die end is connected with sectionalized cooling chamber with pulling mechanism installed at chamber outlet. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 4 dwg
