FIELD: molecular biology, genetic engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nucleic acid fragments encoding a herbicide-resistant form of an enzyme - acetolactate synthase. Fragment of nucleic acid encoding this enzyme has a nucleotide sequence that contains at least one of conservative subsequence encoding amino acid sequences A, B, C, D, E, F and G. Using trihybrid crossing plasmid DNA is transferred in strain of bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens, plant protoplasts were transformed with agrobacteria and transformants were selected. Amino acid sequence A has the following sequence: proline-glycine-glycine-(E2)-alanine-(E1); amino sequence B has: glycine-glutamine-valine-proline (a1); amino acid sequence C has: isoleucine-glycine-threonine-aspartic acid-alanine (δ2)-phenylalanine-glutamine-glutamic acid; amino acid sequence D has: proline-lysine-(λ1)-aspartic acid; amino acid sequence E has: arginine-phenylalanine-phenylalanine-aspartic acid-aspartic acid (γ1)-arginine; amino acid sequence E has: glycine-methionine-valine (β8)-valine-glutamine-tryptophan (β3)-glutamic acid-aspartic acid-arginine-phenylalanine (β7) and a sequence G has methionine-leucine-glycine-methionine (σ1)-histidine-glycine. Method involves also the preliminary construction of recombinant plasmid DNA carrying nucleic acid fragment that encodes herbicide-resistant acetolactate synthase.
